Another great new feature: With the NV-6, Kawai now also includes a complete USB audio/MIDI interface , so that the sound from the instrument can be transmitted directly to a computer or mobile device – ideal for recording, online streaming and online lessons.

Kawai NV6 Hybrid Piano
The Kawai Novus NV-6 replaces its predecessor, the NV-5S, which now features numerous improvements. The Novus series receives several upgrades, particularly in terms of sound, with the announced collaboration between Kawai and physical modeling experts Pianoteq also raising interest.
Like a real piano?
Like its predecessor, the new Novus Upright is, at least visually, almost indistinguishable from a real piano. Upon closer inspection, the cabinet body is perhaps a bit more compact.
In terms of sound, however, the Kawai Novus NV-6 is certainly more than just an upright piano. Kawai is particularly keen to draw attention to the new sounds derived from its own top-of-the-line concert grand pianos: The Shigeru Kawai is available not only in the Concert Grand version, but also in the new Competition Grand, which is already a hit with the current CA models , in the Kawai NV-6's extensive sound library.
In addition, other Kawai grand pianos are represented, as well as upright pianos. As soon as you hear these, you'll be tempted to believe the NV-6 is an acoustic piano.
Transducer soundboard
This is a special and even unique feature of Kawai digital pianos: The audio system does not consist solely of speakers – it also uses the acoustic vibration behavior of a real soundboard.
This is set into vibration by transducer technology. These transducers transmit the electronic sounds of the Kawai Novus NV-6 to the wooden surface of the soundboard.
According to the manufacturer, this system has been completely redesigned and replaced with innovative transducers. It will be interesting to see what sound improvements this will bring.
High-quality hammer-action keyboard
In terms of playing feel – something already evident in its predecessor, the NV-5S – the Kawai NV-6 is top-notch. This is ensured by a special hammer action similar to an upright piano. The basis is definitely the proven Millennium III action, which is also used in Kawai acoustic pianos. Only the hammers look slightly different, as they don't strike the strings but control the sound electronically.
Only good quality and a high-quality playing feel are required here – real wood keys and features like Ivory Touch keytops and escapement simulation are a given. But the keyboards of the Novus series also incorporate another element in connection with the sustain pedal. This slightly alters the weighting of the keys. It's a rather subtle effect, but it makes playing with the pedal even more authentic, as the dampers are decoupled when the sustain pedal is held, allowing the keys to play a little more smoothly. A special feature of the Novus digital pianos.
